Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a unique and comprehensive approach to health and healing that combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of health prevention, diagnosis, and the management and treatment of both acute and chronic health conditions.

Naturopathic doctors (ND’s) address the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of an individual, and treat the “root cause” of illness rather than simply treating or suppressing symptoms. ND’s are trained at accredited, four-year, post-graduate, residential naturopathic medical programs. The training includes comprehensive study of the conventional medical sciences, as well as detailed study of a wide variety of natural therapies.

Naturopathic doctors integrate standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural and non-invasive therapies, including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, lifestyle counseling, massage therapy, physical medicine, and counseling. Naturopathic therapies can be used to complement treatments used by conventionally trained medical doctors. The result is a patient-centered approach that strives to provide the most appropriate treatment for an individual's needs.
